SharedCountdowns Privacy Policy
Applies to the iPhone and Android apps. Last updated: 18 October 2026.
SharedCountdowns lets you count down to events and share them with the people you choose. This page explains what the app stores, why, and how to delete it.
What we store on our server
To share events between people and devices, the app stores the following on our backend, which is hosted by Supabase:
- Your countdowns: title, date and time, end date, icon (an emoji or a small photo thumbnail), colour, background, note, category and repeat setting.
- Groups: the groups you belong to, your role in each, the display name and colour you choose for each group, invite codes, and which events you have pinned.
- An account identifier: created anonymously the first time you open the app. You don't need an email address or password to use SharedCountdowns.
- Your email address, only if you choose to save your account. It is used only to send you a one-time sign-in code, so you can restore your countdowns on a new phone. It is never used for marketing.
- A notification token, only if you turn on notifications about other people's changes. This lets us tell your phone when someone in your group adds or changes an event.
- Calendar subscription settings, only if you use the calendar feed: a private feed link and the events you've chosen to leave out of it.
What stays on your phone
- Reminder settings and scheduled reminders.
- Appearance and language settings, and the icons the app has learned from your choices.
- A copy of your events for offline use.
- Your phone's calendar: the app reads it only when you choose Import from Calendar. Only the events you select are added to SharedCountdowns; nothing else is read or uploaded.
- Photos: when you pick a photo as an event icon, the app makes a small thumbnail on your phone and stores only that thumbnail with the event. The original photo is never uploaded.
What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't share it with anyone other than the service providers listed below.
- We don't collect your location, contacts, phone number or real name, unless you type your real name as your display name.
Service providers
- Supabase: hosts the database and sign-in. All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- Apple Push Notification service: delivers notifications on iPhone.
- Apple App Store and Google Play: process Premium purchases and subscriptions. We never see your payment details.
Sharing within groups
Everyone in a group can see that group's events, members' display names and colours. Anyone with a group's invite code can join it, so share codes only with people you trust. Events marked private are visible only to you. Your personal space is never shared.
Deleting your account and data
In the app: open Settings, then Delete account. This removes your account identifier, your saved email address, your memberships in every group and your personal space with its events. It takes effect immediately and can't be undone.
Events you added to a shared group stay visible to the other members of that group, shown with the name you used, because they belong to the group. You can delete any of them yourself before deleting your account.
Without the app: email f.binmubarak@gmail.com with the subject "Data deletion", and include the email address you saved your account with, or an invite code of a group you're in, so we can find your account. We'll delete your data within 30 days and confirm by email.
Deleting a single countdown removes it for everyone in that group. Leaving a group removes only your membership.
Children
SharedCountdowns is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change too.
